The Duke’s choice award has been around for 16 years and it recognizes individuals, organizations, projects, services, or any program related to Java innovation. This award celebrates extreme innovation using Java Technology.
The Eclipse MicroProfile project was recognized this past Wednesday, October 24, 2018 by winning a Duke’s choice award. MicroProfile was founded in June 2016 and MicroProfile 1.0 was released in September 2016. In its short history, the project’s Contributors have already put out 7 releases and plans to have three releases per year starting in 2019. MicroProfile Contributors are currently at MicroProfile 2.1, support Java EE 7 and Java EE 8, and continue to evolve the specification for enterprise Java microservices. Our specification, to date, has 12 APIs that support a variety of microservices-related capabilities, such as fault tolerance, metrics, OpenAPI, configuration, authentication and authorization, REST client, open tracing, and health check. In addition, the Contributors belong to diverse working groups, where proactive discussions on topics such as service meshes, concurrency, transactions, data access, event data, reactive streams, and reactive events take place.
The MicroProfile forum has grown to over a thousand active members, who arduously work and collaborate resulting in the agile innovation that characterizes our project. Join and influence this project directly via the forum.
